What is Domain Name System (DNS)?
Computer or network software but do not know a domain name
directly. She understands the network address or IP address. So an IP address
is assigned to each domain name. Without using the domain name, this IP address
can also go directly to the website. It is difficult to remember IP addresses,
usually 12 digits. So in reality, everyone uses the domain name.
But your computer's IP address needs to know that for any
type of communication. During the first network ARPANET, a file named host.txt
was written by all the computer names and its IP address. It is not easy to
write an IP address when the network has billions of computers. Because IP
addresses are constantly connected and changed. To solve this problem, a system
with continuous, dynamic and distributed database has been set up, which is
called Domain Name System. Domain names are divided into several levels. There
are about 240 top level domains, all of them are in a tree stack under them.
There are about 19 top level domains based on the content of the website. For
this, general .com for all websites, .biz for business websites, .info for news
and other information sites, .org for nonprofit organizations, .net for online
service providers. Again, almost every country has its own top-level domain,
such as Britain's .uk, Japan's .jp, United States .us Bangladesh .bd etc.
